Getting Started

Installation overview

Choose the correct RepoTunnel package for Linux, Windows or macOS and verify the downloaded release.

Guides follow the current project source. Check the release notes for your installed version.

Current public release

The current public release documented by the project is v0.4.1 (2026-10-05). Use the official GitHub Release assets and checksum file.

  • Linux x64: .deb, .rpm or AppImage
  • Windows x64: NSIS .exe or .msi
  • macOS: Apple Silicon or Intel .dmg

After installation

  • Open RepoTunnel
  • Add or clone a project
  • Choose the project's access mode and AI policy
  • Configure a remote MCP connection
  • Connect your AI client
  • Run a real RepoTunnel tool call to verify the full path

Pick the right package

The current project publishes official Linux DEB/RPM/AppImage packages, Windows NSIS/MSI installers and separate macOS DMGs for Apple Silicon and Intel. Choose the package that matches both your operating system and architecture.

  • Linux Mint, Ubuntu or Debian on x64: .deb
  • Fedora/RPM-family on x64: .rpm
  • Other supported Linux x64: AppImage
  • Windows x64: NSIS .exe or MSI
  • macOS: Apple Silicon or Intel DMG

Check the package before running it

Use the official GitHub release page and SHA-256 checksum document to confirm you are installing the intended release rather than a random third-party download.

Opening the app successfully is only the first check. Confirm its reported version matches the release, then move to the first-project guide.

Note

Packages for several operating systems do not imply feature-for-feature native parity. Native runtime capabilities are described in the platform status guide.
