Installation

Install on Windows

Install RepoTunnel x64 with the official NSIS .exe or MSI package.

Guides follow the current project source. Check the release notes for your installed version.

Packages

  • Recommended for most users: RepoTunnel_0.4.1_x64-setup.exe
  • Alternative: RepoTunnel_0.4.1_x64_en-US.msi

Security boundary

AI command execution uses an AppContainer + Job Object isolation path on Windows. Native UI Automation support exists, but platform-specific runtime behavior should be validated on Windows before making stronger claims.

Verify the download

Download the official installer and RepoTunnel-SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release. Open PowerShell in the download folder and compute the installer’s SHA-256 hash.

Compare the full Hash value with the line for that exact filename in the checksum file. Letter case does not matter; every hexadecimal digit must match before you run the installer.

Code
Get-FileHash .\RepoTunnel_0.4.1_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Note

For MSI, replace the filename with RepoTunnel_0.4.1_x64_en-US.msi. If the hash differs, download the package again from the official release.

First launch and permissions

Run the official x64 installer you downloaded, then open RepoTunnel from the installed application. Add a local project folder and confirm the intended access policy before connecting an AI client.

Windows command isolation uses AppContainer and Job Object boundaries. Workflows that require an AppContainer process to reach an unpackaged local host service via localhost can need additional explicit loopback policy; RepoTunnel does not silently add a system-wide exemption.

Platform checks

Check the native feature status before relying on accessibility-driven desktop automation or full managed-process reattachment. Package availability is not evidence that every Linux behavior has been validated on Windows.

If an operation is blocked by sandbox policy, inspect the explicit error and platform guide rather than disabling operating-system security.
